The news is out!

Those of you who are in the same industry as me (language provision and CPD for pexels-photo-902194.jpeglinguists) will have heard that I stepped down today as Managing Director of my small company, eCPD Webinars. My co-directors resigned at the same time, and the company has been transferred into the ownership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London – a very safe pair of hands!

The decision to sell the company was made in mid-2017, long before I knew I had cancer, but as it happens, most of the negotiations, the toing and froing of draft proposals and contracts, and the due diligence were happening during my diagnosis and operation for breast cancer.

I can admit now in public that I found coping with cancer and a contract at the same time a tad stressful. The day the contract was actually signed I felt a great weight leaving my shoulders.

I am going to miss the day-to-day activities of running a small, but thriving company providing top quality CPD to translators and interpreters. But I am still intending to continue translating, once I get the chemo out of the way.

I like to think that we made an impact on CPD provision over the eight years I have been in charge. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my co-directors – past and present. Thanks to them first of all. And I thank every single one of our customers and followers.

So now I can concentrate very hard on getting well, enjoying my family, having the occasional day out (when summer finally comes) and perhaps decluttering the house.
